Water world at our school
A huge beautifully backlit aquarium is the primary decoration of the hall in a new building of the Żak Science and Business Centre in Łódź.
However, this visible part of “reservoir” (bagatelle – 2,5 kiloliters) determines only a half of aquarium. Filtration and natural water settling take place in the other hidden part.
The aquarium of this type must wait for a long time until fish could be let into it. At first, the adequate bacterial flora and suitable ecosystem must originate in this closed cycle.
As yet conditions in the aquarium of Żak are suitable for the first invertebrates. We can already admire a dozen or so species of Indonesian soft corals of fancy shapes and colours.
Now we wait anxiously for exotic fish, which are performing quarantine.
